Building
Two former military vehicles form the base of our mobile dental units. These are currently being converted into dental clinics in our workshop at “Kamp Nieuw Milligen”, a military base in the Netherlands. The idea was to create a modern clinic according to Western standards of dental care. The identically equipped units, each 7.5 square meters of floor space have everything on board that you would expect to find in a decent European dental general practice, including digital X-ray equipment.
The design of the units is drawn by Dutch professionals, in consultation with the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Nairobi. The material and equipment selection is carefully considered by the various partners. On board there will also be a digital patient registration system.
Outside the units we also make use of three arched tents with a dimension of 6x6 meters, or available classrooms for dental intake-control and for sterilization. Ten portable dental chairs and adequate lighting are installed to monitor all schoolchildren.
Our sterilization room features six high-end vacuum sterilizers.
Aboard the equipment-trailer a generator is mounted to provide the units with power. For every Dental camp, a water trailer with osmosis unit is present to provide us with demineralized water. Waste water is collected in a separate tank. This makes our Dental project self-sufficient and we will leave nothing but tire tracks.
