With twenty five years of experience in both veterinary and human medicine WLCI can’t be seen as a ‘rookie’.

In 1991, Henk Beumer started WildLife Care International, the NGO brought veterinary assistance, specialists and a unique mobile clinic to circuses, zoos, safari parks and wildlife in many parts of the world. Human doctors and specialists from various disciplines took part in the surgical clinics of the foundation. Many tigers, lions, elephants, bears and monkeys were helped by WLCI. After seven years of traveling the world with a veterinary clinic, it was time for a change.

The first consignment of medical goods arrived upon the request for help from the then Minister of Foreign Affairs in Kenya, Maj. Marsden Madoka. In December 2001 some 40-foot shipping containers full of medical equipment and four ambulances arrived at the port of Mombasa. The first steps were taken for a long-term cooperation.

Till this date, WLCI is working together with local authorities in Kenya. Many smaller and larger projects are tackled, completed or ongoing. Ranging from veterinary assistance ‘in the field’ to providing clothing to underprivileged women and children. By assisting Health Care Centres with equipment and disposables to the development of an Electronic Patient Record System.

Our focus will always be on cooperation with local authorities. With the Ministry of Health, we have an agreement in which both parties are responsible for an optimal cooperation.
